For this week’s Indie Pick, I really wanted to share one of my all time favorites: CHAI. She has an amazing voice and even better music, so what’s not to love?
CHAI (Crystal Yi, Korean name Lee Soo-jung) is a Korean-American singer, born in 1993. She flew to Korea for the competition ‘Kpop Star 5’ where she ended up winning the competition and eventually signed with Antenna Music. Yeeun Ahn was in that same competition so go give her feature a look.
Just take a look at this emotional stage of her performing ‘Lie’ originally by g.o.d (I mean the group, not the actual God). I was in tears.
Her debut release ‘Give And Take’ has three amazing, amazing tracks. She released this live session of the song ‘Alright’ and my heart has never been the same.

Her being in Antenna Music gives her the freedom to collab with some amazing artists.

CHAI has her own YouTube Channel where she vlogs and does cover and it’s absolutely adorable.
Her latest release was a collab together with SAAY, who we’ve featured quite often on this site because we love her. So this song was like a dream come true.
CHAI has some of my favorite vocals of the entire Korean Indie scene and I can’t stop listening to her music. I hope you made a new discovery today or if you knew her already, it’s a good excuse to just listen to her songs.
