April Korean Indie DisKovery

We’re back with our top picks for this monthly April Korean Indie DisKovery. Let’s take a look together at our favorite Korean indie releases of the past couple of weeks.

Week 1

I’ve been really enjoying Nam Kyun Un’s new EP ‘Earth’. It’s such a mellow vibe and it’s super lovely to listen to.

Son Yeji released the soft ‘Different Shape’. I’ve been quite obsessed with this track. It’s a superbly arranged ballad and Yeji’s vocals are just the perfect twinge of sadness.

Another ballad I’ve been enjoying is this indie folk ballad ‘Unknown’ by heeje. It’s super soft and meanders which creates a lovely effect.

Week 2

Scarlet Kim is a new discovery for me. Her track ‘Those were the days’ feels tiny and intimate and longing.

Eundohee’s new single ‘Belief’ is wonderful, soft, a bit eclectic with its different instrumental elements but so, so cool.

Kim Min Kyu released the album ‘Somewhere Out There’. The title track ‘Space Battle’ is awesome eccentric rock. His music video will be featured for the MV Rec series because the video is so cool.

Week 3

Yebit came out with her lovely single ‘sarang’.

Angie and ohmbre came out with ‘I’m a cat’. I love how they used the electric guitar to mimic a cat’s ‘miaow’. It’s super soft and quirky and just absolutely lovely.

Doorlesshouse released ‘Drifting’. It’s an indie rock moment with great vocals that really mimic the feeling of drifting. About halfway through there’s a super cool build-up of intensity that just completely falls away. It’s awesome.

Week 4

The orchard released the cool ‘I’m an aeroplane’. It’s rock excellently done. It plays with the rhythm and creates a cool listening experience.

Summer of Thoughts came out with ‘Landing’ featuring Kim Sawol. It’s soft, the vocals are top!

Kang Asol is back to bless us with ‘Chungmu’. I’m a bit biased with this one, I just really enjoy everything she releases.
