JINJIN & Rocky became the latest Astro sub-unit with ‘Restore’. In the MELON description it is explained that this musical project was prepared to deliver positive energy hoping to help restore the listeners’ minds and hearts.
‘Restore‘ aims to show the talent of these two members and the tracks included were co-written and co-composed by them. Let’s get ready for this healing trip and dive into the music.
Restore
We go straight into the funky bop and title track ‘Just Breath‘. This song is amazing, JINJIN & Rocky made this track a fantastic and also very fun listen. It is packed with instrumentals that will have you jamming and also smiling to it. The trumpets instrumentation is amazing and the song is dynamic and full of surprises.
This track gets even better with its hilarious music video, I loved how organic this music video feels. It’s effortlessly good and very entertaining. They made the simple things of the every day entertaining and super extra. We LOVE. Watch it below.
Next up is ‘Lazy‘ featuring Weki Meki’s Choi Yoojung, this single includes a really cool piano instrumentation and hip-hop beats that give the song a chill and trendy style. I really enjoyed the simplicity and fun vibe in this song. The melodic rapping was perfection and I loved how well the vocals of Yoojung blended.
Heavy bass and a rock guitar line take over in ‘Lock Down‘. I am here for the vibe of this song. It is very angsty and I loved the contrast of the low pitch rapping and high tones, JINJIN & Rocky keep on surprising us with this release. Legends.
With a more EDM driven track ‘Complete Me‘ comes over with a edgy synth line and an impressive layering. The mixing in this song is very funky and unique, it really sets a unique mood that will have you dancing to it.
Closing this mini-album we get the pop-ballad ‘CPR‘ with a retro style and amazing vocals. This single is captivating and an absolute stunning listen.
‘Restore‘ is a very impressive EP, very well balanced and it also allowed JINJIN and Rocky to shine as a duo but also on their own. Listen to this release here.
