We’re back with a new film review and this time we were able to watch ‘Exhuma’ which I’ve been looking forward to so much! I was literally counting down the days!

Exhuma

This movie has had TikTok and the Korean film community quite excited! The line-up of extraordinary actors, the visuals and the plot have all contributed to its box office success, so we couldn’t wait to watch it. The film was written and directed by Jang Jae-hyun who was also responsible for films like ‘The Priests’ and ‘Svaha: the Sixth Finger’.

‘Exhuma’ tells the story of two shamans Hwa-Rim (Kim Go-Eun) and Bong-Gil (Lee Do-Hyun) as they work on a new case for a family of Koreans currently living in Los Angeles. The family’s been having trouble with the newborn son and after having exhausted every other resource, they’ve ended up with the two shamans.

Hwa-Rim and Bong-Gil investigate (and look incredibly hot while doing so) and decide that they need to visit the grave of the grandfather in South Korea. They also need two other experts; Feng Shui export Sang-Deok (Choi Min-Sik) and undertaker Young-Geun (Yu Hae-Jin).

However nothing is as easy at it seems once they visit the grave and things go downhill from there.

Overall

This is a thrilling supernatural horror film with plenty of twists and turns. It was a thrill to watch and the effects were well done and interesting to see.

The performances and music choices were superb and I can only assume that next year’s Halloween is going to be dedicated to this film.

I would definitely recommend going to see this!
