[R&B Gem] JUNNY - TheKMeal

For this week’s R&B Gem we are diving into the career of the very talented singer-songwriter Junny. He has steadily grown and established his name in the music industry, and his solo music just gets better and better.

Kim Hyung-jun (aka. Junny) debuted in 2017 with the EP ‘Monochrome’, this same year he also released the mini-album ‘A.G.E. (21)’ and the collaborative album ‘INTERIOR’ with Yelloasis.

After signing with Marilyn Monderland, he released several singles and one EP in 2018, including the songs ‘Handle You’, ‘Thank You’, ‘Patience’, ‘W.Y.W.F. (What You Waiting For?)’ and many others.

ØFFSHORE

In 2019 he released the EPs ‘Vivid, Pt.1’ and ‘Vivid, Pt.2’, including features by Paloalto, Punchnello and Holynn.

In 2020, Junny signed with Mauve Company, and became part of the crew ØFFSHORE. With big changes in his career new opportunities arose, this same year he composed singles for SM artists including EXO’s SUHO, NCT and Kai.

Besides his gig as composer and lyricist, Junny also released his own music, including the singles ‘AURA’ featuring pH-1, ‘By My Side’, ‘Movie’, ‘New Girl’ featuring Kid Milli, and others.

First album and recent projects

As a composer and writer, Junny had one of the busiest years in 2021, writing for artists under SM Entertainment, including U-KNOW, WayV, EXO’s Baekhyun, NCT Dream, NCT 127 and NCT U. This same year he also composed for other artists including big names like IU.

For his solo work, he released the singles ‘ME.N.U’ with Ha Dong-Kyun, ‘HIDE & SICK’, and the single album ‘Nostalgia’ including features from JAY B and lullaboy.

So far this year, Junny has teamed up with pH-1 and Chung-Ha for the singles ‘Get Ya!’ and ‘Color Me’, respectively. He also released his first studio album since his debut with the titled ‘blanc’.
