K-Cover: AKMU – Eyes, Nose, Lips

For this week’s K-Cover, we’re going back six years and listening to AKMU and their lovely cover of Taeyang’s ‘Eyes, Nose, Lips’.

I feel that this song needs no introduction, what with being one of Taeyang’s best and most popular singles. It was released in 2014 as part of his second solo album ‘Rise’, and received universal acclaim. His melodic and expressive vocals really brought out the emotions of hurt and longing in the lyrics, creating a powerful and intense performance that speaks directly to our hearts.

Siblings Lee Chan-Hyuk and Lee Su-Hyun aka Akdong Musician aka AMKU had just debuted. They were the first to release a cover of ‘Eyes, Nose,  Lips’ soon after it came out.

In true AKMU fashion, their version is softer, more understated, and really reflects their signature sound. Their arrangement of the song is just as emotional, but in a way that fits two teenagers singing it more – remember they were just 17 and 15 respectively at the time.

Enjoy AKMU and their lovely cover of ‘Eyes, Nose, Lips’:

Avid manga fan, language nerd, RPG-gamer and coffee addict, I accidentally wandered into K-pop fandom in 2009 and stuck around to share the love ^_^
