Actor Spotlight: Ro Woon

In this week’s Actor Spotlight we want to talk about a multi talented idol turned actor, who keeps surprising us with every single new drama he has been in. Let’s dive into the acting career of SF9’s Ro Woon.

First Roles

Kim Seok-woo’s (aka. Ro Woon) acting career started in 2017 in the drama ‘School 2017’ where he had a small role with an overload of cuteness and a lot of charisma. 

His next role was in the 2018 tvN drama ‘About Time’. For this support role he had a more laidback style. His role as Choi Wi Jin was super fun and an interesting change from his previous one. Check a few clips below. 

The same year he starred in SBS drama ‘Where Stars Land’, his supporting role for this drama was more adult and mature, nevertheless, his acting made it fun and very appealing to watch. 

Male Lead

Ro Woon’s breakthrough role was in the 2019 MBC drama ‘Extraordinary You’. For this production he went all in. His drama, despite being almost a school drama, had a unique plot that allowed him to explore the role and he delivered great scenes.

His growth as an actor was fascinating to see, and his role as Ha Ru is for sure a memorable one and earned him the Best New Actor award at the 2019 MBC Drama Awards.

Between 2019 and 2020 he had a couple of cameos in the dramas ‘Find Me in Your Memory’ and ‘Was It Love?’. He came back to the small screen in 2021 with the drama JTBC production ‘She Would Never Know’.

His role in this drama shows a more mature side, his acting has greatly improved and his performance and character development was very interesting.

Following this, his role in ‘The King’s Affection’ is by far one of my favourite ones by him. He portrayed an adorable, charming and yet mature and heart-breaking performance. 

The character depth was fantastic for this role and led him to win several awards at the 2021 KBS Drama Awards.  

Ro Woon is on his way to build a solid filmography and we are looking forward to seeing his debut on the big screen.
