We’re back with a new Actor Spotlight and this time we’re putting that spotlight on the brilliant Kim Ji-Won.

Debut

Kim Ji-Won was trained both as a singer and an actor but chose to go for a career in acting. Her first role was in the 2008 drama ‘Mrs. Saigon’.

She gained her first recognition in the 2011 drama ‘High Kick: Revenge of the Short Legged’. In the same year she also starred in her first feature film ‘Romantic Heaven’.

The first drama that really blew up her popularity was ‘The Heirs’ alongside Lee Min-ho.

In 2013 and 2014 she played roles in the crime drama ‘Gap-dong’ and the romcom ‘One Sunny Day’.

2016 – 2017

These two years were massive hits for Kim Ji-Won. She starred in the series ‘Fight For My Way’ and the insanely popular ‘Descendants of the Sun’.

The two roles made her win several awards and a lot of fans. She had stellar performances and great scripts to work with and fans responded to that well.

After that she had roles in ‘Mr Sunshine’ and ‘Arthdal Chronicles’.

Last year Kim Ji-Won was in the K-drama ‘Lovestruck in the city’ which we wrote about here.

Right now she’s starring in the series ‘My Liberation Notes’ which I am super intrigued about. Her character looks very relatable and I am obsessed by the fact that it’s written by the same writers as ‘My Mister’ which is still my favorite drama to date.

I think Kim Ji-Won has an incredible knack for choosing dramas with great stories and interesting characters. I’m always happy to see her on screen because I know she’ll deliver. Go follow her on Instagram here.

A writer with a slight coffee addiction and a tendency to find K-Indie gems in the YouTube rabbit hole.
